Under a month til our disney trip!! AHHHHH
Only disappointing thing is that I didn’t realize I needed to book Savi’s Workshop for making a lightsaber. I blame that on the fact that last year, once it became apparent our May 2020 trip wasn’t going to happen, I totally tuned out of everything disney parks-related because I just didn’t want to be reminded. And that’s still kinda on-going, just in like the last month have I finally been digging into stuff and reading news again. And that’s when I realized Savi’s needed a reservation and at that point it was already past the 60 day mark so everything seems to be booked for our 2 DHs days. I’m going to keep trying because I’ve seen folks say they’ve gotten a res just like a week before their trip. Fingers crossed. If not, i’ll put that money away to have a custom saber made eventually.
Pretty much everything is done for the trip, except a few last minute little things. Here’s my to-do list:
1. Sew combs into my Dale hat
2. Glue acorn to belt (tried to just hot glue it but the surface needs sanded, glue wasn’t sticking)
3. Finish ears – I’ve decided to do mine on a headband instead of my hat. They’re too far apart on my hat and look silly. Since I’ve got the opening on the top of my hat should work out fine.
4. Get plates attached to Leia jacket. Did I say last week I decided to nix the belt and put them on the jacket? Can’t remember. One less accessory to deal with at the parks. I got them painted and fabric glued on the back this weekend and intended to sew them on, but I apparently glued them on too well because I can’t get a needled through the fabric on the back LOL. So I think I’m gonna go the velcro route. At least if one gets pulled off it’s not a big loss, can always 3d print a replacement later.
5. Maybe alter Padme top?? It depends…
It depends on this bra I get today. I ordered a strapless bandeau bra with really good reviews… it arrives today and I’m excited to try it. I’m already going to be using it for at least Dale and possibly also Bespin Leia depending on how low it sits in the back. If it works out well, I’m going to buy a second one so I have 2 on the trip. And then I may edit the back of my Padme shirt. Oh wait I haven’t even talked about the Padme shirt have I?
Here’s my finished disneybound Padme look!! So yeah, I made the shirt. The halter top I bought on amazon hoping to dye was… not great. It was too short, too tight, and totally see-through. So I ordered some yellow jersey knit and made my own top. I cut up the amazon halter top and copied it’s neckline, and then used one of my shirts I liked as a basis for the lower half. It’s not perfect but I’m happy with it.
But, the back of the shirt is a mirror of the front:
Which kinda ruins the “backless” vibe of the shrug.
So IF this bra that comes today works well, I’m thinking of altering the back, cutting it across straight and just having the halter go around the neck and not continue down the back. More like a traditional halter top.
(Also that pic above is not a video, sorry if the “play” icon confuses anybody, I apparently deleted the original photo I had here and I had to replace it with a video screencap.)
It’s really taking back to the WDW trip my family took in 2001 when I lived in these halter tops with no back and just a little built-in bra. I miss being able to do that.
the green one
the orange one
but yeah if the bra that comes today is questionable then I’m just going to leave this the way it is because it hides more of a regular bra. But I have high hopes for the new one.
Here it is on! Need to order the new pair of shorts I have picked out.
Here’s where the Leia look is at. I put my Leia ears with it altho I really don’t know that I’ll be able to wear them with the outfit at Disney. Between wearing the buns, sunglasses AND a mask… I dunno if I can deal with one more thing wedged on my head. Seems like asking for a migraine.
Yesterday I did mess with the jacket a bit. I ended up folding over the section of the waistband that stuck out so now it’s even with the edge of the upper part – it made me lose about an inch of width on the waistband, which is good, because it was a litle loose on me and I wanted it to sit snug at my natural waist.
I already talked about attaching the conchos to the waistband – they’re just taped on for the photo here.
And here’s the dress. Only thing new here is the silver shoelaces in the shoes and the pin on the collar. It’s a little Millennium Falcon pin. Chase ordered 2 different falcon pins for his Han look, and he gave me the one he’s not going to use. I went to put it on my dress collar and the pin back was so thick and dull it wouldn’t even go through the fabric. I forced it through on a scrap and it left a big hole. Not doing that. So I cut the pin back off and chase sanded it down for me – put a magnet on instead.
Also this dress on the display form just reminds me that this display form has NO hips whatsoever. Makes it hang funny.
And here’s Dale mostly finished:
Like I said above, just need to do the ears and get the little gold acorn to stick to the center of the bow on the belt.
And now here’s everything else from last week.
First up here’s me deciding to try to squeeze into some of those late 90s jeans I brought from my parents house. I managed to get them ON but buttoning them was a no-go LOL. I did decide to keep this top when I had it on though = it’s nice and airy and will be good for wearing around the house this summer when I have to be on zoom calls.

We spent a couple of hours Saturday and Sunday cleaning out the garage again. We’ve made a huge dent!
Tried to give these away on fb but no takers nearby. So they’re in the trash pile š
Speaking of TRASH. We have an ENORMOUS trash pile in the garage – it’s taking up an entire corner – that we have nowhere to put. We’ve been putting donate stuff in Chase’s truck, so it’s nearly all either trash or shred. (got 2 bins of stuff that needs shredded. Hoping we can find some place that’ll shred it for us. I miss having a shred bin at work I could just throw stuff in whenever)
As for the trash stuff…. we are once again entering WEEK 3 OF NO TRASH PICK-UP. Been watching the slap fight between the city and the contracted waste company play out in the news, but it’s very frustrating because… we literally have nowhere to put trash. Both cans are full to the brim. Everybody has extra stuff out by their cans which have just been camped on the street for 2+ weeks now. We have nowhere to put this trash from the garage. This is the second time this has happened this year.
Anyway Saturday we went to check out this new store called Nerd Alert and it was super cool.
And this is what i bought:
It’s going to go with my sad weird dog statue in my sewing room. I guess my “weird porcelain dog” collection has begun,
We also finally bought something we’ve been wanting for forever – a WAFFLE IRON! The one we’ve been eyeing went on sale at Bed Bath and Beyond, plus we were able to use a coupon on top of that, so we got it for super cheap. So we had waffles for dinner last night.
We went to Kroger to pick up a few things Sunday mid-day. I walked down the makeup aisle… I’ve been wanting to try that Nyx non-transferable lipstick everybody on tiktok is obsessed with, but it’s sold out everywhere, so I went to see if they had it in the makeup aisle. They did not, but they did have a maybelline lipstick that seemed to be the same thing – put on colour, let it dry for 2 minutes, put on the lip gloss to seal it, it’s supposed to be non-transferable for 24 hours.
I tested it on my hand in the car. After it set I couldn’t wipe it off with a napkin. I then went home, took a nap, washed my hands with regular soap and dish soap, and then tried my makeup remover on it and my aquaphor and some HARD scrubbing and it still looked like this:
So that’s pretty cool. It says to remove it with oil-based makeup remover which… uh I don’t have. Guess I’ll have to get some. This morning it’s still very much there. A little less than the photo above, but it looks like I have a skin condition.
So that’s all I have for this week but let’s do the tiktok recap real quick because this week was…interesting.
First up, I want to note that on Friday, I switched BACK to a personal account. Which means I lost analytics, but I felt like my engagement had taken a further dive after I switched to a pro account again in… late Jan? Feb? I don’t remember when. So I don’t have the analytics anymore but I’ll still have view counts/like counts.
Monday 3/22: collage video of all of the Star Wars costumes Chase and I have made (for his bday):
3430 views/687 likes. Mediocre.
Tuesday 3/23: Reply video about my Mara Jade costume.
868 views/139 likes. Absolutely abysmal.
Wednesday 3/24: Absolute throwaway video of “imagine your childhood crush fighting your adult crush” but I thought it was cute.
1842 views/236 likes. Bad.
Thursday 3/25: “Tell Me Who your Fav Star Wars character is, without saying who your fav star wars character is” – another throwaway, just took some video of my Leia collection.
1006 views/209 likes. Also bad.
Friday 3/26: Old Amidala video – the slow-mo spinning from our photoshoot in 2018.
This did SO BAD I deleted it. After being up for about 8 hours, it had 35 likes. WTF.
And now remember Friday is where I switched back to personal account.
Saturday 3/27: Dressform video of my new Padme disneybound look.
36,100 views/8680 likes.
This is the best performing video I’ve had since OCTOBER.
So of course I thought, did switching back shake something loose?
Sunday 3/28: Dressform video of my new Leia disneybound look.
I actually posted this twice. After 4 hours it had only about 100 some odd views and 36 likes. WTF.
Second posting last night at lik 7:30, 578 views/127 likes. SO BAD.
So much for that thought. I guess the Padme video was a blip.
Also I’m still fighting with tiktok support and top stop feeding me canned responses.
One good thing about the Padme video is it finally reversed my course on my follower count. The massive bleeding of followers finally stopped a couple of weeks ago but I was still very slowly losing followers and not gaining enough to replace them. I gained about 200 followers from Saturday’s post which was helpful in that arena.
So that’s all for today. See you next week!
